My Best Friend [of 10 Years] is Married.

Back in April, my best friend since freshman year of high school got married to the love of her life. I've known her for 10 years, in August. Oh my word, where does the time go. Back in 2014, I left for the Disney College Program in Orlando. We knew I would be gone for a little bit, but we didn't know exactly how long. We always joked that at some point she would call me in the middle of the night and she would be engaged. In October, that joke became a reality. I kid you not, I stood in the middle of my DCP apartment bawling because I was so happy for her. She deserves happiness more than anyone else that I know.

From then on, as I moved from city to city she always stood by my side. She asked me to be a bridesmaid one day when I came home and we went to breakfast. Over a split portion of beignets, I said yes and almost started crying again. She kept me up to date with her life and I kept her up to date with mine. I helped plan the wedding from California, and although I couldn't fly back for the engagement party, bridal shower, or even the bachelorette party she still forgave me.

I went home the January before the wedding, and that's when things really got real for the both of us. She just bought a house, and had all the wedding decorations in it. I finally got to see everything and we talked about everything under the moon by the bonfire in her backyard. It was like old times, but through new eyes. She and her husband are two of the most deserving people. They're kind, and their faith is stronger than I've seen in many people of our generation.

The weekend of her wedding I flew in early on Wednesday so that I could help her out and be apart of everything that I could be. We got our nails done, I got my hair done (she requested that I don't have red hair, and mine was strawberry blonde at the time). We went to the rehearsal dinner, and then to the wedding, and everything was perfect, down to the last detail. I'm so grateful to have been apart of her beautiful wedding day.
