The Very Last Day -- Part 2

We had decided to go to dinner a couple weeks ago with our friends Katie and Joe, and that’s just what we did. After a quick stop by my friend Kaitlin’s house to say goodbye, we got on the road to head to Pho 45 in Garden Grove (which was amazing). We met them for our ‘last supper’ and the whole time we just joked about everything that we were going to do in the next few years, even though I wouldn’t be there. It was a nice gesture and I know that I’ll be included in as many things as they possibly can.

The final stop of the night was to Yogurtland to have frozen yogurt (and sorbet for Christian) with our friends Eerin, Hilary, and Jordan.  It was a place that we frequented often so it’s only right that my last stop of the night was to get desert with them. We stayed laughing and talking for about two hours before things settled down and got serious. When it was time for me to go, I held everything together (like I had been doing for the past few days). We said goodbye then Christian and I got in the car to go home, and that’s when I lost it. We got maybe a block down the street before I started bawling crying. I texted Hilary to tell her just how much I’d miss her again and that it was her fault for making me lose it (but  not really) after holding everything together so well. She laughed and said she waited until she got in the car to start crying.

When we got to Christians house we stood outside for a second so that I could at least make an attempt to pull myself together…it didn’t really work.  When Christian’s mom saw me, she gave me the biggest hug ever and assured me that I was always welcome to come stay when I visited. She’s one of the kindest people that I’ve ever met in my entire life and she always makes me feel welcome. We stayed up talking with her for another hour before we all realized that it was almost midnight and Christian and I had to be up at 4am.

I couldn’t imagine a better way to spend my last day (for now) in California. I’ve never felt more loved and cared for in my entire life, and I can’t wait to go back.
