Happy (Early) Birthday to Me

For my birthday, Christian wanted to take me out to a nice dinner. My goal in life is to eat at every Disney restaurant at least once so while we were in Anaheim, he decided to make dinner reservations at Carthay Circle in Disney’s California Adventure park. I was excited because I had heard a lot about it, but had never actually eaten there. Although it wasn’t a place we would go back to, it was nice to experience once.

Whenever you walk in, you’re immediately greeted by a nice atmosphere of a bar area where you can sit and eat appetizers and drink some cocktails before dinner or as an actual meal. Since we were eating dinner upstairs, we decided to forgo on eating. But still the area to wait in is very nice and very intimate.  We waited for maybe 10 minutes before the server came to get us to bring us upstairs to our table. We were seated in one of the ‘sun rooms’, even though it was nighttime outside, it was kind of chilly and actually kind of loud. You could hear everything that was happening outside, as well as everyone else’s conversations, and the music pumping through the speakers.

It took about 15 minutes for our server to check on us to even get a drink order, which was a huge turn off. We were ready to order everything by the time he came to get our drinks so we just ordered everything then and there. The menu at Carthay Circle rotates, so it may not be the same menu as the last time as you went there. Because we had never been before, we got pot stickers as an appetizer, and I decided on the gnocchi and Christian got chicken. It was okay, but honesty it wasn’t anything to write home about. We weren’t really impressed so we decided to grab the check and go.

As we were waiting for the check to come, the fireworks over Disneyland were about to begin so our waiter allowed us to go outside on the porch and watch the fireworks from an empty table. The really cool thing about that was that they blared the music outside so you could hear what was going on at the same time as the fireworks were going off. It was a really cool way to watch the fireworks for the last time. While I’m glad we tried it out, I’m not too sure we’ll be going back anytime soon.
