Monday's Were for Softball

Softball was never a sport that I even remotely thought that I would end up playing one day, but then I started dating Christian. Christian is a huge baseball fan – baseball/softball/whiffle ball are equal in his eyes when it comes to playing the sport. Since I worked for Disney and a ton of my friends were interested in playing softball, they invited me to join the team. I reluctantly agreed because the needed more girls to play on the team. All my friends were play, and I mean, how hard could it really be….boy was I in for a surprise.

After I agreed to play on the team with them, Christian and I went to get baseball gear. By baseball gear, I mean cleats and batting gloves. He had a glove that I could use so I didn’t have to buy one of those and attempt to ship it to myself, because let me just tell you packing up your entire life in three suitcases (one carryon size) is not fun, nor is it easy. Our team is called Balls & Dolls, and we’re not half bad. Sometimes we would make errors, but not often. We won two games and lost two games, by the time I had left, missed one game because of rain (yes, rain), had two batting practices, and countless whiffle ball practices. I got an accidental triple, and the bruise to prove it, and hit most of the balls that we're thrown to me.

I played right field and usually batted as the third girl (or first/second depending on which girls actually showed up). I wouldn’t say I was great, but then again I wouldn’t say that I was awful either. It was definitely a learning experience and everyone did a really good job coaching me when I needed it. It was something that I used to get closer to my friends and honestly it was just a good time. Will I join another softball league? Maybe not, but the answer surely isn’t no. After all, I do have some of the materials.

My Last Week in California...

I don’t know if you’re going to think that this is cool or not, but I decided that next week I’m going to write about my last week in Anaheim and I’m going to post the blog posts on the day that everything happened. On Mondays, we played softball (we had a Disney softball team – it still exists just without me), so I’ll have a post going up about our softball team. Then on Tuesday was a surprise party that one of my good friends threw for me. Wednesday will be a post about college program celebration – the final dance/end of semester celebration. Thursday will have a post about the dinner my boyfriend took me to for my birthday (to celebrate a little early, before I left). Lastly, but certainly not least, Friday will bring a post about my last day in Anaheim (it may spill over to Monday though because it’s quite long – we fit a lot in one day).

Needless to say, it was an interesting last week. There were so many things that were happening and so many things we were ‘supposed to do’ but just didn’t happen. We made time for the things and the people that mattered and that’s what I wanted. The days seemed to go by slowly, but the week itself flew by. In that week, I was reminded just how lucky I was to spend time with everyone and so lucky to have everyone in my life. I hope you enjoy what’s to come, and I hope you have a good weekend.

And I'm Back to Square One

It’s kind of hard to really know where to begin, but I’ve got a lot of ideas and a lot of things I want to write down. When I started on the Disneyland College Program, I thought I was going to set aside time every night to write. I thought that because I only had one roommate, I would have so much more time. I thought that because I didn’t know anyone in California, I would be able to sit down every night and write a little bit. I couldn’t have been more wrong.

Right now, I'm in between places. I'm on my way to Florida but I'm stopped over in Louisiana to repack all my stuff and get everything ready to start back up again. It's been an interesting experience, and I'm excited to tell you everything about it but in the mean time, I'll leave you with this.

Going to California was one of the best decisions that I could have made for myself, and while it was a tough decision to make, I’m so glad that I did. I gained the experience of a lifetime, some of the greatest friends I think I will ever have, memories for a lifetime of stories, and the kindest and most caring boyfriend in the entire world.

Though this post is a short one, don’t worry there are plenty more to come. Trust me, right now I’m currently sitting on my second flight of two, heading home and there’s really nothing better that I could do right now then write. Though the posts may not come in the order in which the events happened in real life, I’ll try and keep it as consistent as possible. Besides, I’ve got to have some way of updating my life – seeing where I’ve come from and how far I’ve gone.
