Fashion Profile: Michael Kors

One of my most lusted after designers is Michael Kors. His designs for bags and watches are something that I’ve been looking at and lusting after for quite some time now. For me, the sleek design of the bags is what keeps me coming back to them. Just look at some of his ad campaigns that he's done and you'll see why I love him so much. The whimsical colors, it's almost like a fairy tale world.

I didn’t really know who he was or what his brand was until I started watching Project Runway, where he was a regular judge. However, he began his career when he was younger by starting a boutique and selling clothes from his parents basement, which he named Iron Butterfly. When he got a little bit older, he studied at FIT for a little bit, but ended up dropping out to work for a line at a store called Lothar’s.

In June of 1980 he received his first credit in Vogue, and in 1984 he had his first runway show. In 2003, he won the CFDA award for the Menswear Designer of the Year (kind of a big deal!), however it wasn’t until 2004 that the MICHAEL Michael Kors and the KORS Michael Kors labels were launched.

You can find Michael on twitter and on instagram. If you want to follow his collections you can go to his website here!
