June Birchbox Review

Slowly but surely I think that Birchbox is taking a step in the right direction. They've recently changed their look, to make it more universal (black instead of pink). Although it's taken me a little bit of time to get used to, I like it a lot more than the previous look. Above is what you see whenever you first go to the site, it's laid out a lot better and it's so much easier to navigate now!

Now onto what I got in my box! When I first looked in the birchbox, I wasn't really sure of what to expect. But after I tried all of the products, it's safe to say that I'll be sticking with Birchbox for at least another month!

In my box I received:

  1. Birchbox + Color Club - Wanderlust Collection (in Mod in Manhattan) [Full size, $8]
  2. Davines -
    1. Love Smoothing Shampoo (Full size, $24)
    2. Love Smoothing Conditioner (Full size, $27.50)
    3. Oi/Oil Absolute Beautifying Potion (Full size, $40)
  3. Oscar de la Renta - Something Blue (Full size, $85-115)
  4. Suki - Exfoliate Foaming Cleanser (Full size, $32.95)

I've tried out all of the products and am completely happy with almooost all of them. Usually for me, Color Club nail polish is really hit or miss. I've gotten a really awesome gold color, and then a really awful green color. But this collection is something that I want to buy. The Wanderlust Collection gives you four mini nail polishes for $8, which I think is a perfectly good price! I received Mod in Manhattan which is an offwhite color that is supposed to represent the off white color glow of the city at night. I've never really owned/worn a white nail polish [or off white nail polish] before, and this is a perfect one!

Next up, we have the Davines line. I've got mixed feelings on this line. I don't have super frizzy hair, so this is not something that I really need to use. The smell was okay, but it kind of turned me off. It's not something that I would pick up for myself, simply because I didn't like the smell at all. The shampoo felt like it dried my hair out a lot, which isn't good for me since my hair is super thin and super brittle. The conditioner, on the other hand, felt like it really conditioned my hair. But whenever it came out of the package, it was a really really really weird consistency. The oil was really awesome, and smelt nice, but I've got a hair oil that costs about a fifth of the price that does the exact same thing.

How cute are these postcards that came with this month's bos!
Afterwards I tried the Suki exfoliate foaming cleanser. It smells extremely lemony, and I hate the taste of lemon but I love the smell. it just smells clean and fresh, so that was an instant thing I liked about it. I'll probably get about two uses out of it since it was such a small container, and I'm really excited about that. I don't currently have a exfoliating cleanser that I use, so I'm testing a couple out. A company that I would love to check out is Lush, since I know that I love a lot of their other products. I really liked this cleanser, but it's just so expensive normally that I don't know if I am ready to spend $33 on a cleanser.

A really rough, quick coat of the Mod in Manhattan
And of course, last but not least we have Oscar de la Renta's Something Blue. It's a very floral scent, but it's got a kick of citrus in there as well. I love this scent, for me, even though it's not something that I would normally wear. It was said to be inspired by the designer's silk and lace wedding gowns, and I have to say that I think they captured it. The bottle [for the full size] is absolutely beautiful. I've been looking to expand my perfume collection and I think I may have to add this one to my collection!

Have you ever heard about any of these products? Would you think about buying any of them?

  1. Oooh, I DO like that nail polish color!

And this looks like a much better birchbox than some I've seen in the past... seems like they're doing a bit better!

    1. Ever since they've revamped their website and their look they've done a lot better! I got a second nail polish from their set this month and I'm loving it just as much as the first one.
