Viva Italia!

Snipped this from Google Maps...sad they don't have a flight button

Well, it's been official for quite some time now, but it's kind of just now hitting me. In May of this year, one week after school lets out, I'll be hopping on a plane and heading to Italy. I'm studying abroad for four weeks, and probably going to stay in Italy for about two weeks afterwards with some of the girls from the trip (if I can afford it, we'll see how much shopping damage I actually do in Rome).

Recently, we had a meeting about the trip just answering general questions and we had to go around the room state who we were, what we're majoring in, the classes we're taking while we're there and what you're most looking forward too. Everyone was saying things like culture, experience, shopping, and the only thing I could think of was the food. I cannot wait to eat my way through Rome.

In a little over two months, I'll be in Rome. I. AM. SO. EXCITED. Though anytime I mention this around my dad he has a slight heart attack and immediately pictures the movie Taken. Not going to lie, I'm kind of nervous to fly. We'll be on a plane (or a few planes) for 13+ hours, so the whole 'being afraid of heights' thing will definitely be tested here.

I'll be taking Advanced Oral Communications while I'm there, along with a photography class, so while it's still classwork it'll at least be fun classwork.

Have you ever been to Italy? Where do you think I should go? Any recommendations?

  3. Exciting! I studied abroad three semesters during my first degree and they were the highlight of my entire undergraduate experience... so great that I decided to never leave one of the countries ;) I'm sure your experience will also be phenomenal! Can't wait to follow along on your journey.

  4. Gah this is SO exciting! I went my senior year of high school and absolutely loved it. The gelato is to die for but the only weird thing is that they didn't keep their milk cold. Yuck!

  6. I've been almost all over Europe but not to Italy. Heard good things about Rome tho.

If you are looking for cheap ways to travel try on RyanAir. It's a low budget airline! My favourite Euro city is Prague and totally worth a visit.

  7. So awesome! Rome is fun but make sure you make it to Capri. It will be one of the most magical places you have ever been in your life. Also Florence is pretty amazing. I found really cheap airfare on British Air when I was there a couple of years ago but make sure you don't over pack because they will fight you to put your bag on the plane. And British Air will give you credits for flight miles on American. Oh and Cinque Terre is really awesome as well but I am not sure how it is since the flood.
