SPRING BREAK!

Y'all I am so excited. Today is the last day of school for an entire week. Monday-Wednesday I have to work, but the second I get off of work on Wednesday I'll be heading straight to Gulf Shores with some friends to enjoy four days of beach time.

It'll be so nice to take a little break and step back from reality until we have to come back to school and kick it into high gear again with finals week looming around the corner. I know I've got about four research papers this semester, which I've been working on every now and then, but I've really got to settle down and finish them.

So for now, I'm off to relax and hang out with family and friends. Have a great vacation!

What do you do for spring break?

St. Patricks Day!

So I'm obviously trying to catch up a little bit on things that have been happening around here recently, but one of my favorite days had to have been St. Patrick's Day.

I started off the day working, so I had to miss the parade but I ended the day hanging out with a bunch of random/new friends. We kind of went on a ton of adventures that day that started out at Serrano's to listen to a band play and ended hanging out with friends playing pictionary until 3 in the morning. Needless to say waking up the next day for some meetings was kind of difficult, but we all pushed through.

What did you do for St. Patricks Day? Did you go all out or spend some time in?

Easter Sunday Outfits

Easter Sunday Outfits

I was raised in a somewhat strict Roman Catholic family. This meant church every Sunday at 9 am, mass every first Wednesday of the month in school, and nice clothes for the important holidays, Christmas and Easter.

Each Easter we got to go and pick out a new 'Easter Dress', or we would have one waiting for us in the morning when we were younger. Now, we only made the mistake of going to the Easter Vigil mass once...it's a 3 hour long mass, minimum....now if this is your thing, by all means please go and enjoy it, it's just definitely not my cup of tea.

This year, I wasn't planning on going to mass, I haven't been in a couple of years, but I decided to go last minute with my dad. Though I won't be buying a new dress, I'll be wearing one that I've probably only worn once...maybe twice, it never hurts to look!

Do you get dressed up for Easter/Passover/whatever it is you celebrate?

Just A Formality

1
A couple of weekends ago, we had our sorority formal at Nottoway Plantation. For those who don't know, formal is kind of like senior prom. Each girl can bring a date, if she wants to, then we all take buses to our event.

Her dress was so stunning -- I loved it !

Nottoway Plantation is absolutely breathtaking and to have the entire thing rented out for us to play around in was so much fun. We danced a lot, and had a good time and even ran around the grounds exploring a little bit.
My little & grand little (they're precious)
Personally, I think the event was absolutely perfect! It was about 3 hours long, which was just the right amount of time because it was freezing outside, though we couldn't really tell while we were dancing. I hung out with friends, danced a lot, and laughed so much. It was really nice being able to get dressed up super nice and just hang out with a bunch of friends.

When was the last time you really dressed up and went out?

One Year Later

"But it's no use going back to yesterday because I was a different person then." - Alice

Recently we had our sorority formal (but more on that later), and I was looking at pictures  from last years formal. Obviously this isn't one from last years formal, but it is from around that time. It's crazy to see how much we've all changed, and who still talks to who. But I wouldn't have it any other way.

What's your favorite memory from a  year ago?

There's A T-Shirt for That (Literally)

Wore a jersey to Disney World
Around this time next year, I’ll be so close to graduating, literally so close. So right now, I’m starting to think about wardrobe and the type of clothes that I want to buy. Being in a sorority, there’s a t-shirt for everything (while it sounds funny, it’s so true). Formal event? Semi-formal event? Exchange? Philanthropy event? Spring Break? You got it. There’s a t-shirt for all of those things.

And to the beach
Well, these things don’t come cheap, and while they’re adorable I’ve started to think, you know how many t-shirts do I really need? You see, I live in these shirts. I work out in them, wear them around campus, wear them to hang out it, you know for everything. Over the past three-ish years here, I’ve amassed an arsenal of t-shirts.

And even to try on new glasses
So I’ve finally decided to not buy so many t-shirts. I mean, really what am I going to do with them after I graduate? Make a t-shirt quilt? Wear them around? Probably not. So, from now on, for every t-shirt I don’t buy, I’ll put the money in an account and I’ll spend it buying ‘real clothes’. Clothes that I’ll be able to wear around and that I’ll be able to throw together and actually look presentable again.

Have you ever given up buying one thing in order to save up for another? If so, what's your favorite thing you've bought after saving for quite some time?

Viva Italia!

Snipped this from Google Maps...sad they don't have a flight button

Well, it's been official for quite some time now, but it's kind of just now hitting me. In May of this year, one week after school lets out, I'll be hopping on a plane and heading to Italy. I'm studying abroad for four weeks, and probably going to stay in Italy for about two weeks afterwards with some of the girls from the trip (if I can afford it, we'll see how much shopping damage I actually do in Rome).

Recently, we had a meeting about the trip just answering general questions and we had to go around the room state who we were, what we're majoring in, the classes we're taking while we're there and what you're most looking forward too. Everyone was saying things like culture, experience, shopping, and the only thing I could think of was the food. I cannot wait to eat my way through Rome.

In a little over two months, I'll be in Rome. I. AM. SO. EXCITED. Though anytime I mention this around my dad he has a slight heart attack and immediately pictures the movie Taken. Not going to lie, I'm kind of nervous to fly. We'll be on a plane (or a few planes) for 13+ hours, so the whole 'being afraid of heights' thing will definitely be tested here.

I'll be taking Advanced Oral Communications while I'm there, along with a photography class, so while it's still classwork it'll at least be fun classwork.

Have you ever been to Italy? Where do you think I should go? Any recommendations?

Long Hair, Don't Care (But Except For Not Really)

So, about a month ago I cut off a ton of my hair, and by a ton I literally mean about 10-12 inches off of my hair. I decided a while back that it was time to chop off all my hair, to feel a little freer, and guess what, it worked!

At first, I was really skeptical about how short my hair is, but it grew on me and I'm really liking it now.  I wanted to dontate it to locks of love, so they had to cut it a bit shorter than I wanted (and honestly I'm not sure if it even got there....not sure if it could be donated?).

For the summertime, it'll be the perfect length and so much less to take care of, especially when I'm in Rome.

Have you ever cut off about a foot from your hair? How did you react?

Thank God It's Friday

Y'all, I never thought Friday would come. This week school wise has been so freaking rough, my own fault for not really doing the assignments ahead of time, BUT STILL.

Personally, I can't wait for this weekend. Though we don't have too many plans, I am going formal dress shopping in hopes to find a really pretty floor length dress that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. So, we'll see how that goes.

I finally created a twitter account for this blog, so if you wanna follow along, click here!

Do you have anything fun planned for this weekend?
