A Hundred Holiday Cookies

Well, maybe not 100, more like 3-400. Every year around Christmas time, I have a bunch of free time on my hands. Normally I bake all break long, but this year there's a lot for me to do and get ready for. So this time, I decided to bake all of the cookies that I normally do in one day/night.

I made snickerdoodle, chocolate chip, white chocolate chip macadamia nut, peanut butter, oreo balls and mint chocolate bark. For each cookie I made, I baked about 4-5 dozen....multiply that by the amount of type of cookies there are and you've got a small arsenal.

I armed myself with as much coffee as I needed, and began baking. Y'all it took me all day/night, maybe about 16 hours in all to do everything, but I did it. Why am I baking this many cookies, you may ask? Every year for Christmas instead of buying friends and coworkers presents (because that would be expensive as all get out), I bake them delicious treats.

Growing up, my mom loved to cook and I loved to bake. She taught me everything that I know in the kitchen, regardless of if it was cooking or baking. This year I had 17 boxes to make, and by box I mean the cute little Chinese take out box that they sell at craft stores like Hobby Lobby or Michaels.

I filled them up to the brim with cookies and delivered them to the boys at work, and a few other friends. All in all, it was a worthwhile day-off spent. Plus, I got to see everyone freak out as they ate some of my moms famous cookies.

Do you bake during the holidays? What's your favorite recipe?

  1. I'm impressed that you baked so many cookies! I made a few batches of red velvet cake truffles this year.

  2. My mom used to do the same thing for all her friends when I was young, we'd spend weeks baking in the kitchen making chocolate truffles, butter balls, sesame shortbreads, and so many more.

I love Christmas cookies (is it Christmas without cookies), but now that I live in Australia (not New England) they don't seem to do the Christmas cookies very much.
