Senior Year

Y'all my little sister is a SENIOR in high school. This makes me feel so insanely old. She's the flag team captain at school and recently they had their band competition. It's kind of like battle of the bands, but marching band edition.

I'm not sure how they did, but I love their performance. I know how much hard work she puts into being captain and how much she practices. To see all her hard work pays off makes me so proud as a big sister.

It's weird for me to go to her high school performances and see so many of the kids that we grew up around. The high school she goes to is really 'small town' feeling. A lot of the kids live in the neighborhood that we live in now, or went to the same middle school as we attended.

I'm so proud of her and all the girls on the flag team. I know she's going to do such great things with life, she has such great ambitions and so many big dreams. I can't wait to see how she does in life.

Do you have any siblings?

A Weekend in New Orleans

The weekend before Halloween I headed down to New Orleans with three of my good friends from the sorority. To say that we raised a little bit of hell would be the greatest understatement of the year. Whenever the four of us get together, we always have a really good time.

Rachel's parents own a condo right off St. Charles uptown, so we stayed there for the night. Abbs, Meghan, Rachel and I drove down as soon as we all got off work and then headed down to Burbon street to people watch, for the most part.

We walked up and down Burbon and looked through the windows at the bars and looked at everyone else who was walking around. We stayed out until 2am and then found a cab to take home. We laughed and just had a good time.

This weekend we'll be having a good time celebrating a friends birthday and tailgating for the game on saturday!

When was the last time you had a really, really good time with friends?

A little while ago I won a giveaway from Blair's Head Band! She recently went to the UK and came back with this adorable tea set.

Now, I brought this home and the first thing my roommate did was tweet a picture saying "my roommate always brings home the cutest things." She's obsessed with anything and everything from England, so when I told her it was actually from the UK she flipped out. I'm slightly obsessed with tea, so to win her giveaway was kind of perfect.

She wrote the sweetest letter to accompany the tea, and even added in an Essie nail polish. It was something I wasn't expected, and made me smile at the best time. If you haven't checked out her blog, you should. She lives in New York City (jealous much?), and is obsessed with gossip girl (I was obviously meant to find her blog).

Have you ever won a giveaway on a blog?

Are You an Influnester?

The other day I was just going about my day, doing normal things and came across this site called influenster. It's a website similar to Birchbox, but instead of actually paying anything, they send you full sized products to test out and write about, for free (which is kind of awesome).

Well I just received my first box the other day, and it was a beauty blogger vox box, which made me giggle to think I was a 'beauty blogger', but hey I'll take it! It's not a monthly service, but one that chooses people at random whenever they're sending out a specific kind of box.

Y'all this is all the goodies that the box contained! I opened it and was kind of floored at how many different things they actually sent to me. Below has a card, listing everything, what it is and the prices!

NYC: New York Colors Individual Eyes Custom Compact: Y'all I got this, and I love it. I'm not someone who owns a lot of makeup, because let's face it, I can't afford it. But when I got this, it really makes me want to try out more of their products. They have instructions for people like me who have issues applying makeup too! I wore the eyeshadows to fashion week and actually got complimented on how amazing my eyes were!

Kiss Ever Pro Lashes Starter Kit: Can I be honest with you? I'm kind of terrified to try this. Fake lashes tend to scare me because I'm not sure how to put them on/remove them/etc. But this packet makes it look really simple!

Bath & Body Works Mini Candles: They sent me the perfect scent, and I love candles. What more could you ask for.

EBOOST: I'm all for helping out my immune system. I get sick so easily that this could really help, except orange flavor? Not really feeling that.

Goody's Simple Styles Spin Pin: I had a little bit of trouble using these at first, wasn't really sure of how to, but once I figured it out, I loved it! It made my bun look so much better than just bobby pinning the heck out of it, or just putting a hair tie in!

Not Your Mothers Kinky Moves Curl Defining Cream: I don't have curly hair, so I'm not really sure if I'll ever use this (it's very seldom that I do curl my hair), but we shall see!

Vitabath Fragrance Mist: I got this in coconut scent, which is really the worst they could have sent me. I hate coconut smell/taste more than anything and this spray was just super overpowering.

All in all i was really excited about most of the things in my box and really glad that I had signed up for this!

Have you heard of Influenster before? Have you tried it out before?

Disclaimer: I was given this voxbox free of charge for testing purposes by All opinions are my own and based on my experiences while using the products. I am nto being compensated byt he companies that provided the products or by Influenster for my opinion.

As the holiday season begins to roll in, I find myself struggling more and more everyday. Struggling to find some kind of routine, some kind of familiarity.

This past week, I was absent from blogging. Not really by choice, but more by necessity. I started this blog for my mom, but as time has passed it's become more and more of a personal journal, like it should be.

This past weekend, I had a lot of firsts. First time going to New Orleans by myself in a very long time, first time at my paw paws camp this year (? maybe), first date after being broken up with (huge step for me), and first time just letting go since being broken up with.

Now, by letting go I mean just that. Letting things roll off my back and just letting everything happen. Memories were made, as were friendships. Bonds were broken, as was my heart. But you know what, sometimes you just need to feel everything; the pain, the happiness, the sadness and the lost soul feeling that seems to accompany these things.

I'm not saying these things are going to get easier, but as the days go on, I can tell I'm becoming stronger; a better person, because at this point, it's who I need to be. Not for anyone else, but for me.

Who do you need yourself to be?

A Southern Shirt Company

Recently I found a company called The Southern Shirt Company and fell in love. I had been looking for a few new hats that I could wear running, and heard really great things about this company. When I went to see what they looked like, I discovered that they had a TON of different colors (18 to be exact).

I placed my order and then waited paitiently for it to come in, which was actually pretty quick! Something that I really loved about the company was that they hand wrote thanking me for my order. That's something that's really awesome, and not a lot of companies will do.

When I opened the box, this is what it looked like. Not only did they send me my order, but they also sent me two stickers along with it. This made me so happy because I loved the colors they sent.

The first thing I did was take the hat out of the box and try it on. I love the way it fits and the way the material feels. Another really great thing is that instead of having notches to choose from to see which fits best, it has an adjustable leather strap in the back.

I may have gotten a little bit carried away when I was ordering the hat and ordered a few koozies as well. I'm a sucker for a good koozie, and use one whenever I have a cold drink. I put one over my water bottle the other day when I was running out the house and it was a little snug. I know, they're used for cans normally but it was perfect for the water bottle!

All in all, I'm super happy about my purchase from them and would definitely look into purchasing either a shirt or another hat next!
