On Skimmin'g the Headlines

I love reading the newspaper, don't get me wrong, but sometimes I just don't have time in the morning or at night to read the entire thing. So, when I came across a website called The Skimm I had to type in my email and see what it was all about.

Basically the thought of the newsletter is that every morning they send out a newsletter after Skimming the headlines and seeing what's important and what isn't. They break down the major important events and write them in everyday terms that just about anyone can understand.

I was a little skeptical at first, but after receiving my first newsletter I passed the website onto my roommate and a friend to get their opinions. I am able to quickly read the newsletter as I ride the bus to my classes in the morning and actually have an intelligent conversation with others about the topics they discussed.

Now, they don't tell you everything that's happening that day in the news, but for the major stories it's definitely a great read! Check out some archives if you're not fully convinced you'll love it as much as I do. Or you can see a review!

Have you heard of The Skimm? Do you love it or hate it?

  1. I have never heard of it but will definitely take a look at it now! It sounds like the perfect remedy for those of us that don't have a lot of time but wish to remain informed :)

  2. omg i have always wanted something like this because i dont have any time to read extra either. and i try so hard haha. love this thanks for sharing.

  3. Maria, thanks for sharing this! I definitely think that getting the "full story" is really important - it's hard to engage critically with something if you are just getting the bare basics. But reading a full front page story can seem so daunting that I sometimes don't even bother. This is a great resource!

Thanks for saying hello! I love hearing from all of you & reply back to everyone as quickly as I can! xoxo
