Getting Things Done

When I was living in The Orchid House (what we lovingly called our rental house), I posted about desk space and how important it was for me to have a functional desk to do work on, blog on and just sit and read sometimes with a cup of tea.

Well, needless to say I didn't really adore that plain white desk [which is now in our spare room at my dads house]. However, my desk at home is a different story.

This desk first belonged to my grandmaw, then my momma and finally she passed it down to me. I love this desk. It's a beautiful cherry wood and so durable [another word for heavy as all get out].

The pictures [above and below] were both taken in the midst of my summer school session when I was writing a paper on Pride and Prejudice while reading parts of Jane Eyre.

While it may be messy in this picture, it's perfectly me. My absolute favorite things about where my desk is situated? The pictures I've hung above it, and the fact that it's right next to a huge, window that lets in SO much natural light.

Right now everything is kind of cluttered since I have two of everything (and have to keep two of everything) since I combined desks from Orchid and at home. The reason I'm not getting rid of anything is because I've got to move out again the first few days in August to move into the sorority house!

This is one of the pieces of furniture I would love to pass down to one of my children whenever I grow up [definitely AT LEAST six or seven more years!].

Do you have any furniture that you adore or hold sentimental value to?

  1. I am 34 and still have the rocking chair that I sat in as a young tot.  My son has it now, although at 5, he uses it for his stuffed animals.

The desk is beautiful, and I think sentimental value always beats anything too new or neat! xo

  3. That is such a beatiful desk! So classic. My room is all new so there is zero furniture that holds a story.

  4. That will just give you a chance to get furniture that you can pass down to someone that holds so many memories you created!

  6. Thanks so much! I couldn't agree more. Hearing about the memories that someone else holds for the same item you adore is seriously the greatest!
