Fill in the Blank Friday: Color Edition

Each week, Lauren at The Little Things We Do does a link up called Fill in the Blank Friday. It's not often that I do link ups, but I'm really in love with this one! It's such a different, creative take on link-ups!

This weeks post is all about color. She givs a lot of freedom to choose however you want to participate in it and this week, I'm all about color in clothing.

// Top: Mango v neck top // Cardigan: H m cardigan // Shorts: Linea Weekend chino shorts //
// Shoes: Snake shoes // Necklace: Anchor necklace //

I'll be the first to admit, I can be very afraid of color. If I had the choice, nine times out of ten I would choose something neutral over something colorful. However, as of late, I'm trying my hardest to incorporate more and more color into my wardrobe.

My favorite color in the entire world is blue, so starting with that I went from there. I'm in love with pink as well, and matching them together was perfectly easy.

I took a neutral shoe (old habits are hard to break!) and then paired this adorable necklace and BAM! An outfit full of color :)

A New Addition: Tabasco

Recently, my friend Alexa (who lives with Elliot), got a baby kitten from our friend CP. She is the cutest little ginger kitty I've ever seen and so sweet. But she is SO stinky! She's adjusting to her new diet, but boy can she clear out a room!

She loves to play when you're trying to sleep and sleep when you're awake. It's so much fun to have a little kitten that you can play with but at the end of the day you can go home and not have to worry about potty training or teaching her right and wrong!

Welcome home, baby Tabasco!

June Birchbox

Y'all I was so happy with my Birchbox this month!

This month I received Wonderstruck by Taylor Swift (perfume), Stila one step beauty bronze (a full size!!!), comodynes self tanning intensive, a luna bar, and stainiac (lip and cheek stain).

If I had to rank the products, it would be:
1. Stila one step beauty bronze
2. stainiac lip and cheek stain
3. wonderstruck by Taylor Swift
4. Self tanning intensive
5. Luna Bar

I had never tried any Stila product before because it is a lot of money for me to spend on one product. However, I wore the bronzer to a party a week ago and loved the way it went on! It's so easy to apply and looks so good!

I had never even heard of Stainiac products before I received this, but let me just tell you how much I loved it! I love the way it applies, and watching the video helps tremendously. But it also looks really good! I love that you can easily control how it looks by how much you put on! Plus it's red enough to look great but not make me look like a clown!

Now, T. Swift. I have a love/hate relationship with her and her products. But I am happy to say that I thoroughly enjoyed this one! I probably wouldn't buy it for myself, but if I received it as a gift, I wouldn't throw it away!

Now, products 4/5 could probably be ranked together as one. Although I haven't exactly given the tanning wipes a chance, I wasn't really thrilled by them. They just don't cut it for me. And the Luna bar, disgusting!

Do you sign up for Birchbox? Or have you tried any of these products before?

A Random Color Scheme

Random Color Scheme

I went through Polyvore the other day and just clicked on three different colors, after that I decided I would try and create an outfit as close to the colors as possible!

Two of my favorite colors are green and coral so when I got these two colors I was thrilled. Plus, neutral goes with anything!

When I stumbled upon this green blouse I knew I just had to have it. However at 55 Euro, its a tad pricey for me! The shorts and shoes are another story! I could totally spend $22 on shorts!

These colors are perfect for summer and could easily transition into fall or even spring!

What colors are you loving? Could you ever just close your eyes and pick colors at random?

A Rough Weekend

Can I just tell you how glad I am that it's a new week?

To say this past weekend was rough would be the understatement of the year. Don't get me wrong, there were a few times that were golden (like our girls night). But for the most part, it was really rough.

My Friday started out with doing chores at home, no big deal. Then going to dinner with my dad and some family friends. That's when it all started to go downhill. I'm not one to say that I'm great and I'm going to go somewhere and do great things, but you know what I do believe in myself.

It was during this said dinner that one of the people there started to try and challenge me. Telling me that "we'll see if you actually make it into graduate school" and "you just think you're going to go somewhere with your degree." My dad came to my defense,  as my parents always do, but it still stung.

Then Saturday I filled in at work for a co-worker, then had to go home and literally scrub my sister and I's bathroom. She isn't the neatest person, to say the least. And the bathroom was DISGUSTING. So bang, clean. But while I was doing that, my dad had to go three hours away to my paw-paws camp and cut grass. Normally my aunt and uncle would do it, but he was recently diagnosed with lung cancer. And instead of being able to go through his first chemotherapy session, he had to get a port put in place.

That was rough, to say the least. But later that night I had girls night with two really awesome people. It was so helpful and really cheered me up.

However, Sunday came around (with a vengeance) and instead of being a relaxing sunday, it was the exact opposite. Elliot and I got into a huge fight, tears were involved (not him). Things were resolved later on, but it took a few hours to get everything out in the open.

So for me, Monday is bringing a new beginning. A second chance to get things right. Needless to say, I wanted to post about this because it's my life. It's real, and this is my blog. While things may seem peachy most of the time, it's not all rainbows and sunshine over here!

What did you do this weekend? Did you have a great time?

Disney World: Epcot Flower and Garden Festival

I know this is kind of a late post, but better late than never, right?!

We were lucky enough to be in Disney World when the Flower and Garden Festival was underway. It was the last weekend that it was there and I am so glad we made it just in time.

They had so many different topiaries around the park and many in the different countries we went to while we were there. My mom and Elliot's mom are both in love with flowers and gardening, so we took a lot of pictures to show to our parents.

My favorite  topiaries had to be the different Disney princess ones. They are just so beautiful and so beautifully constructed. I can only imagine the amount of time that it took to put into each structure.

Not only did they have topiaries around the house but they also had a house-type structure that they had a butterfly habitat in. It was SO pretty in there. We were even able to see a butterfly come out of its cocoon while we were there!

And I leave you with more topiaries!

Stripes, Stripes & More Stripes

Recently I've been seeing stripes more and more in stores. This is something I'm so excited about. Whether it be large stripes, small stripes or stripes just in the middle of a shirt/jacket/dress, I love them.

Stripes are just one of those classic items that you can't really go wrong with, or at least I think so! While black and white stripes may be the most classic of the looks, I'm  loving the new colored stripes. Especially blue, my favorite color, and the multicolored stripes.

I saw this jacket and really, really, really want it! It's one of those things that will look so good with so many different outfit combinations!

Are you loving stripes this year?

A Daily Routine

I don't know about you, but I have to have some kind of daily routine. My days change so much that I at least need to start or finish a day the same way every day. I've decided to share my evening routine with you to see what y'all do the same or differently!

This is my arsenal of beauty products:
1. Equate Eye Makeup Remover
2. Equate Ultra-Gentile Facial Moisturizer
3. Dickinson's Witch-hazel
4. Ponds Cold Cream
5. Neutrogena Makeup Remover Wipes

This is my mini-arsenal of some of my Birchbox products I've received.
1. Kerastase Elixer Ultime
2. fresh Sugar Rose Tinted Lip Treatment
3. Dr. Jart + Water Fuse Beauty Balm
4. Jurlique Herbal Recovery Night Cream

So I started out with my face looking like this: makeup from the day with sweat.

First things first, I used a wet wipe to remove all the makeup and gross-ness from my face.
Then I washed my face with the Clean and Clear face cleaner. I love pretty much anything that Clean and Clear makes.

After I wash my face, I'll brush my face and tone it. Toner is SO important for me.
When you wash your face, you're pretty much sending your skin into shock, so you need to bring the pH down. To do this, use toner! It's made a world of difference with my skin.

After I always use moisturizer to give some moisture back to my skin. Since Birchbox sent me this sample, I've been using it every now and then. I love the way it smells and how it looks, however I don't see much of a difference between my normal night cream, so I didn't buy it.

I have an awful problem of biting my lips when I'm nervous, so this sugar rose lip treatment has been a savior. This is something I would buy over and over and over again.

And the final outcome! After everything my skin looks so much healthier and I can definitely feel a difference!

What are your favorite beauty products? Do you have anything you really swear by?

Whimsical Wedges

Whimsical Wedges

I'm in LOVE with wedges, especially during summertime when it is ridiculously hot outside. I'm kind of clumsy, so while heels are awesome, I have to have somethings trapping my foot in so I don't trip over myself.

Summertime is an excellent opportunity to take control of bright, fun colors. I think that while you shoudl always have bright colors, you need a pair of black and a pair of brown wedges just for really bright printed dresses!

The thing I love about most of these wedges is that the heels are colored! Don't get me wrong, I love corked heels, but sometimes a fully colored heel is just what I want!

Do you love heels or wedges? Which are your favorite?

A Lovely Outing

This sweet girl's name is Abby. I've known her since we were in fourth grade and we've been lucky enough to go to high schol and college together. We even ended up in the same sorority.

In August we'll be living with each other in our sorority house. I cannot even describe to you how excited I am. We get along so well, I can tell that it's going to be so much fun living with her.

Essie Nailpolishes on left; Loft shirt on the right
Recently, we went shopping at the mall, just looking around for whatever we could find.
I stumbled into Loft and found the perfect little sweater/shirt thingy! It's light enough that it can be worn on a cool summer night, but heavy enough to actually keep me warm.

After loft, we walked around and went into Aerie, where we both spent a lot more money than we thoguth we would. I bought two bras and seven pairs of underwear. Yeah,  you read that right, seven. I'm kind of obsessed with their underwear becuse let's face it, it's a lot cheaper than Victoria's Secret and it holds up just as well, if not better!

Banana's foster cupcake on the right --- SO GOOD!
After all that shopping we got hungry. Then we passed it. Cupcake Couture.  We weren't starving by any means, but we could definitely eat. We both ended up getting the Banana's Foster cupcakes, because let's face it, banana's in anything is our favorite.

After we ate we walked into Ulta. I still can't decide if it was a good or bad idea. I found SO many different nail polishes that I would have bought If I had all of the money in the world, but I ended up settling for two Essie nail polishes. The red one on the left is called Who's She Red, and the pink is called Lovey Dovey.

Needless to say one of our first outings of the summer was a good one.

What are you looking forward to this summer? Have you bought anything that you're in love with recently?

I've got a paper due on Monday, so I'm off for the weekend! I hope y'all have a great weekend!

A Final Farewell

One of my greatest friends, Chris, has an apartment that we've had many a gatherings at for the past two years. There have been so many different parties, get together, farewells and welcomings in the last two years it's hard to imagine that we won't have them there anymore.

He's moving to another house with his current roommate, so there will be another party and I'm sure more get together there, but it'll be different. At this apartment we grew insanely close, we're our own little family.

This past weekend to say a fond farewell to the apartment we had out last party there. It was a farewell/memorial day themed get together and it was amazing. I spent so much time talking to and getting closer to the people who mean the most in my life. It was a great way to end the time spent there.

Do you have a place that y'all always go to hangout?

Slash Film Podcast

This is an older picture of E, but I love it. He's so silly sometimes
Let's be honest, normally I wouldn't read film news, listen to film podcasts or anything other than that sort. I love watching movies and television shows but I'm not one to really to want to know the back story or how it was made or read any reviews on it. I like knowing if a movie is good or if it's bad and that's about it.

Now, my boyfriend on the other hand, is a film major. He is the complete opposite of me. He loves hearing about how movies are made, who made them, what they did to make them, etc.

So because I love him dearly, I'm trying/been trying to be able to talk to him about movies and why he liked them/didn't like them so I've been listening to a podcast called The /Film podcast. You can check it out on iTunes if you'd like.

The guys who run the podcast are really entertaining and I love hearing what they have to say on movies they've seen recently! If you're ever in the mood to check out a film or want a review on one before it comes out, you should definitely check them out!

Simply Sweet

Simply Sweet

For the summer time, I love light dresses and when I saw this pretty pink colored dress I knew it would be perfect for summer date nights.

While summer is for bright, sometimes obnoxious, neon colors and spring is normally for pastel colors, I love changing it up a little bit. Because, hey, rules are meant to be broken!

I'm not a huge fan of jewelry, meaning that I hardly ever wear it, but slowly it's beginning to grow on me. I'm kind of loving these bangles!

I feel like, with really good paring of accessories and shoes, you could make this dress a daytime dress or a night dress! Who knows!

What are you loving for the summer? Are you one to stick to the rules or do you tend to break them?

Fill in the Blank Friday: Why I Blog

I'm linking up with Lauren at The LIttle Things We Do for another version of Fill in the Blank Friday.

Normally she'll give us a bunch of questions and we just fill in the blanks with our answers. However, this week is a little different. Instead of many different questions with blanks, today it's just one question.

Why do you blog?

I started a blog, not this one, when I was in high school going to college. It was a way for my momma to keep up with everything that's going on in my life. Whether it be what I did that weekend or what is on my mind and what I'm loving.

This past year I started Peppermints and Pixie Dust because as I was going through college, my goals and wants began to change. Peppermints and Pixie Dust has allowed me an outlet to the massive amount of school work I'm usually hiding under and my jobs.

It's because of blogging that I've been more inclined than ever to start becoming more involved and more active in the community around me and in the blog world. I've expanded my posts from just about my life to about cooking and traveling and fashion and quite literally everything that I can think of.

I hope that blogging continues to open more doors for me and allow me to meet up with some of the amazing blogs that I read every day. Maybe snail mail and care packages one day! Who knows.

Right now, it's my little corner of the world. It's a place for me to escape to.

And now I'm turning the question to you. Why do you blog?

Summer School: Fiction

I'm taking a five-week summer session course from June to the first week in July, and quite honestly I'm actually kind of excited for it!

One of my minors is in English, so I'm taking an English class that is centered on Fiction novels. I'm excited for it because it deals with a lot of the books I've been wanting to read but never been able to.

The required reading for the course are Pride & Prejudice, Pride, Prejudice & Zombies, Dracula, The Historian, Jane Eyre, and Rebecca.

The only one I've actually read is Rebecca and I am in love with that book. It's such an amazing book and I cannot even express how much I think everyone should read it. I've heard good things about all of the other books so I'm excited to read them and see what they're all about.

From what I can gather, this is going to be a comparative fiction class. Each book mirrors another in one way or another. I'm such a nerd and love reading. I cannot wait to see how everything is going to go!

Have you read any of the books above? Do you love them?

Disney World: PhotoPass Edition

While in Disney World, they have this amazing service called PhotoPass. Basically they have Disney photographers stationed around the park who will take a photo for you, with their camera and yours, and give you a card with the pictures on it.

They allow you to preview the pictures they took on the internet on their specific site and see which one you would like to buy. They also have different rides that will put the picture from the ride on your pass as well.

Needless to say it's a great way to actually have ALL of your party in the pictures. A lot of the time, for us anyways, it was really hard to get the full party in the picture because we had to have someone to take the picture!

Have you ever been to Disney and used PhotoPass?
