Fashion Thinking (woah)

For this year, I’ve decided to do a total revamp of my style, to try and start it off right and to actually stick to something! I started this out early in the year (read: January 1st) by purging my wardrobe – I’ve got a clutter-free closet and it’s so much less stressful to try and pick out something to wear. What I’m working on now with it is to try and keep it clean. Trying to organize my closet and dresser and keep it that way (it’s a little hard to do this between two homes [I know you think it would be easy] but I’m trying)!

Now I’m working on developing a signature style. This year I’m trying to develop things by buying a few new pieces of jewelry, looking at the types of pieces that I’m most drawn to, and then making a style board from there!

After I find a lot [or maybe even while I’m finding] a lot of the clothes that I would wear, I plan on challenging myself by doing a 30 for 30. This is a style challenge that you can only have 30 articles of clothing [besides underwear] that you can wear for an entire month. Take pictures so you can look at all the different outfits that you made for the next time you go to your closet! Don’t use any items like rubber flip-flops or crocs! Go outside your comfort zone!

The last thing that I will be working on will be trying to not be scared about splurging every now and then! I’m so tight with my cash because I work so hard for it (and being in college I have to save up all I can) but this year I’m going to start rewarding myself for good things that happen this coming semester!

  1. Oh my gosh this is really exciting.  I recommend looking around first and deciding what you like and what you don't.  Maybe try looking at a few magazines.  I myself use a style guide, Parisian Chic by Ines de la Fressange.  Wish you luck!

  2. I most definitely am going to look around first, ping to buy a lot of magazines and take out pictures and try on different brands! I'll have to check out the style GUIs you use, if I can find it of course!

This month I'm organizing and my first stop is the closet and dresser. You've inspired me to get rid of stuff. The 30 for 30 sounds like a creative way to see how far a few clothes will go!

  6. Aw! I'm glad! I wish you the best of luck! I know it took me six hours total to go through all my stuff! (between two houses of course!)
