Dating A Film Major

I've mentioned before, but my boyfriend is a film major. Along with dating a film major, you learn things about movies that you never thought you would know, or care to know quite honestly. After we see movies and he wants to talk about them, which I don't mind, I've learned so much about the process it takes to make a movie and everything little fact ever...but not really.

Anyways, I was taking a quiz on sparknotes to review before my Taming of the Shrew quiz for my Shakespeare class I came across this question:

Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy is the name of a movie that is coming out/came out (not sure which one) but when I saw this I had to quickly take a screen shot of it and send it to Elliot. He got a crack out of it and it made him laugh (always my goal!).

Do you ever notice silly little things like this?

Bonnaroo Line Up 2012!

On Valentines Day, Bonaroo listed it's 2012 summer lineup.

We lived in tent city, and loved it.
Now, I went last year and had the time of my life, a main factor being the people that I went with, they're my family (pretty much). We saw a lot of amazing acts and a lottt of amazing people.

Palm reading always made for a fun past time
Needless to say I was really excited to see how the lineup would turn out this year. While it's a little exciting, at the same time it's insanely saddening.

The main stage at Bonnaroo, with a cut up dress and my "twin".
Unfortunately, this year I won't be able to go because I enrolled in summer school. For me, school (and my GPA) come first.

The year we went, it hadn't rained in a month. The dustiest it had been in years.
Some acts I would have LOVED to see are: Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Beach Boys, Bon Iver, The Avett Brothers, The Shins, Foster the People, Fiest, The Roots, Ben Folds Five, Childish Gambion (we missed him last year :( ), and The Kooks.

We did this a lot. It was to hot to be anything else.
While I won't be attending this year, I know all my friends who are there will be thinking of me in spirit.

Only about 1/6th of the group we went with. Best friends.
I firmly believe I was born to travel around the world, go to shows like this, meet new people and become best friends with those people who I share the memories with. I'll forever cherish the time I spent in Manchester and dream of the day that I can go back. Who knows, maybe I'll go to Jazz Fest and Hangout Fest this year!

Bon Iver: Best New Artist

Bon Iver won the Grammy for the Best New Artist, which makes me giggle to myself since the band was founded in 2007. Only when Justin and Bon Iver collaborated with Kayne did it seem that they gained any fame.

This is all fine and dandy to me, the less people who know about him, the smaller and more intmate his shows would be. Like the Mumford and Sons show a year and a half ago, before they got big.

Needless to say, I'm glad he won the Grammy for Best New Artist. However, he's not exactly a "music awards' person. In fact, he's not exactly a public person.

I read an interview he gave after winning the grammy's (which you can find here). I understand what he means about it being kind of silly to have awards for music (or even film for that matter, but don't tell my boyfriend I said that).

I still believe that Bon Iver, as a band or an idea, is a brilliant one that everyone should check out (even if I don't want to share).

Fashion Week: Vera Wang, J. Crew, Oscar de la Renta, Marc by Marc Jacobs, and Whitney Eve

I really, really wanted to fall in love with this line, or even like it a little bit but I just couldn't. Quite honestly, there were a few looks that I liked, but most of them just didn't do anything for me.

In my eyes, J. Crew did really well here. Although the four looks below are the only looks I fell in love with, I feel like J. Crew is doing really well! The colors are so beautiful, and the stripes are my favorite.

Obviously, as you can see below, this was one of my favorite shows. I cannot explain to you the love that I have for pretty much everything that Oscar de la Renta does. He works wonders in my opinion. The blue pattern is one of my favorite patterns that I've seen all week!

I liked this show, but the clothes didn't impress me that much. While the clothes look very nice, it doesn't really do anything for me. I feel as if it's not as impressive as many of the other shows that I saw this past week.

I really, really, really wanted to like a lot of the outfits from this show, but I just didn't. The three outfits from below I really liked, as well as what Whitney was wearing. I love Whitney Port and was kind of expecting a little bit more from her.

The darkness of this show is what stood out in my mind, as well as the crazy hair! I like a lot of the way these clothes work, as well as the colors but at the same time it was reallllly dark. I would have been a little more impressed with a lot more of the brighter colors, but it was a really good show!

Fashion Week: Tommy Hilfiger, Diane Von Furstenberg, Thakoon, Alice and Olivia and Carolina Herrera

While I'm trying to change my closet around and go for more bright colors, I can't help but to fall in love with the darkness of his line. The second dress is my favorite in this series, by far!

My heart dropped when I saw DVF's line! I cannot get over her use of colors. Baby blue and pink are two of my favorite colors, and to see how she incorporated them into each other is just amazing! Even though I'm in love with the baby blues and pink, my favorite item from her line is the print dress. It's a little more out there than I would have thought, but I love it!

I feel like his line screamed Valentines Day dress to me! The pinks/reds/blacks are just beautiful though! I could just die over the last dress! So beautiful.

Obviously this was one of my favorite lines, as you can see by the amount of clothes below. I couldn't decide which dresses to cut out, after already cutting four or five. The femininity of these dresses are so alluring while the patterns are bold and daring!

I think the thing that caught my eye about this line is the long dresses. I hadn't really seen many below the knee/floor length dresses (maybe I just wasn't looking) but when I saw these my heart did a flip! The beautiful colors and patterns are amazing, while the hair is another one of my favorite things.

Fashion Week: Calla, Altuzarra, Derek Lam, DNKY and Betsey Johnson

Calla:
I feel as if this line was so perfect and girly, with dresses in beautiful pastel patterns. So in love with all the different colored tights as well!

When I think of winter, I'm usually thinking of black and white. Black, obviously mainly the choice color of clothing that I wear, and white for the beautiful snow that  blankets the ground, not here of course. This show brought me to the colors of the winter I think of, while adding a little shine with golds and silvers.

Once again,  you see so much of the beautiful black and white color scheme, while throwing in hints of other colors as well. The first outfit would probably be my first favorite while the third outfit is a close runner up!

DKNY:
I wasn't particularly wowed by this show, but the more I lok at the specific pieces I picked out to show, the more I love them. I love the sheer aspect of the fuchsia dress, and the hidden bird in the white and black coat. I feel like it's the little things in this line.

Betsey Johnson:
To be honest, I could never really see myself wearing a lot of what Betsey Johnson had designed, that was until I saw this line. I LOVE this season's line for everything that it is. So many beautiful patterns and designs. I like how she had different looks going from pants, to a gold dress. So beautiful and so much fun!

Fashion Week: Rag and Bone, Charlotte Ronson, Rebecca Minkoff & Rachel Zoe

What I loved about this line was the use of stripes, obviously. I love love love the wrap around in the third photo as well. I'm not sure where I would wear it, but I have no doubt if I find something like it, I would never take it off.

Charlotte Ronson:
I'm loving all the dresses, for the coming seasons. Dresses and tights are some of my favorite looks and I cannot wait to buy more as spring time rolls around. Obviously the use of patterns was very predominant this past fashion week, as was the use of velvet. I'm still not sure how I feel about velvet but will see in the coming months!

Rebecca Minkoff
But really, this line was impeccable. I cannot describe how much I love it. Her use of reds is to die for. I'm loving the different tones of red, and the red pants (I'm looking for a pair right now).

Rachel Zoe
I loved everything about her show. I love the different colors (hello, emerald green) and the classic-ness about many of the pieces. The first two suits are actually something I could see myself wearing, which is a big deal considering I really couldn't ever see myself wearing a suit.

Donna Karan:
I loved the architecture of her clothes, which I know sounds a little weird. The way the clothes are shaped so perfectly, and how they are cut pretty much makes up the architecture of the clothing. The red jacket is cut SO perfectly!

Fashion Week: Whit, Jason Wu, Yigal Azrouel, Rodarte & Lauren Moffatt

I didn't want to put so many pictures on the same plane, but I couldn't help it. I had so many outfits that I loved from this show that I couldn't narrow it down any further.

Jason Wu:
I loved this show. He had so many pieces that were just beautiful. Although it makes me a little sad that he used fur (because I'm allergic to all kinds of fur, especially wool, cashmere, and rabbit fur), these looks are SO beautifully constructed and put together.

Yigal Azrouel:
While I wasn't really crazy about the looks or this show, I did find a few looks that I really enjoyed from his show. The use of baby blue was particularly a favorite of mine.

Oh my goodness, can I just say how perfect her clothes line is? But really, you should check it out. Let's just say, if I had the money I would spend all of it on her line. In particular, the last dress in the photo series.

Quite honestly, I had never thought of myself as someone who liked Rodarte. However, this line was quite the opposite for me. This line from Rodarte made me want to look more into their past clothes and their past designes. I loved the design they had for Black Swan and many of their other pieces were just breath taking.

Fashion Week: Michael Kors, Tory Burch, Jil Sander Navy, Ralph Lauren & L'Wren Scott

Normally, I would follow fashion week from the beginning straight to the end. However, since I had three tests directly in the middle of Fashion Week, I've dedicated a few posts coming up to the gloriousness of Fashion Week. I've put together a little a few of my favorite looks from a few (dozen) shows [31 to be exact].

I love the use of reds, silvers and golds from his fall line. My favorite look of all had to be the red lace dress below. It's absolutely stunning and something I could definitely see myself wearing.

While I don't feel like he used may colors, I do feel like he used different textures and different patterns. My favorite look from all of his looks would have to be the black dress below.

I love, love, love pretty much everything about this line. From the colors, to the textures of the fabrics, everything is absolutely beautiful.

I had never heard of this designer before, but the second I clicked on her show I fell in love. I love the classic-ness of the look. It fits exactly what I'm looking for when going to different stores to put together a new, professional looking closet.

Tory Burch was a Theta, like me, so she definitely holds a special place in my heart. Even so, I'm not biased (promise) in saying that her line is absolutely fantastic. I love the second picture, the dress, so much. It's an iconic piece, like many of her other pieces.

To be honest, I'll probably never be able to afford any of these specific outfits, but what it does mean is that I find inspiration from these outfits while I'm shopping! Did you look at any of these shows? If so, what were your favorite looks?

A Week Break

This past Thursday was my hell day, the week in general was plain awful. I had three tests to take on Thursday, a paper due Monday and a rough draft due Tuesday. This isn't including the hours I worked or the clases I attended. Sleeping didn't really happen. At all. Just see for yourself:

Me, dead to the world, at work last Thursday. (Side note: that purple shirt is my work shirt...I don't normally wear two tshirts to school. Just sayin').

For me, this means I missed out on checking my email, blogs, FASHION WEEK, and stumblin'. So for the next week, or so, I'm going to immerse myself in everything I missed, which means you get to be the audience, if you so wish!

Also, this Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday morning, we have off for Mardi Gras break. This means I'll be in New Orleans (until Tuesday, late at night) spending time with family, friends, and one million strangers. Enjoying the parades, getting gelato at my favorite place and spending late nights talking with friends.

I'll probably see all my favorite looks, and compile them here! I hope you all have a great week/weekend!

Cleaning Out Your Closet

It's that time again, for me at least. Time to clean out your closet. I'm really not a messy person, most of the time, but at times I can be such a slob. I can try as hard as I wish to keep my room organized and clean but every now and then it just gets to be too much. So this week I decided to spring clean my closet!

[two closest, at two different houses]

I started out by clearing out all of my old clothes that I don't wear anymore. Things that aren't my style any more and things I haven't worn in a very long time get tossed to the side first! If it didn't make me feel good or look good, I probably don't wear it anymore, I tossed those to the side as well!

Now that I have all my old clothes tossed out, I have to make all of the clothes that I'm going to keep after cleaning in the closet/dresser. So this means finding space for everything. Things that make keeping my closet clean are huggable hangers, adhesive hooks, hanging shoe organizer (or closet door organizer), storage cube things, and lastly bed risers (aka my life savior in the sorority house).

After this, I go through and sort my clothes. I like to sort them by type, then season, and then color. I know a lot of different types (you would think it would be complicated but it's not, promise).  After clearing out old clothes (and donating them), I went ahead and cleaned my closet. I mean, everything is out already so what does it matter now!

[all the clothes to give away!]

Simply Beautiful

I'm not a jewerly girl, at all. I have two pairs of earrings that I rotate from day to day and a necklace. One pair is a set of pearls from my parrain (pah-ran) [for those who don't know parrain means godfather], and a set of gold knot earrings (I think from my brother).

The necklace is one that I got from my older brother when I was in the 8th grade I think. It's a gold heart with cubic zirconium circles on one side of the heart and squares on the other side.

Now, with that said, when I saw this necklace I fell in love with it.
It's beautiful and very simplistic.

The world may also be coming to an end because I'm looking for a new watch as well!

Happy Valentines Day!

Happy Valentines Day everyone! Unfortunately my boyfriend lives an hour and a half away, so we're not doing anything for Valentines Day. Which doesn't really matter, since we wouldn't have celebrated it anyways, regardless. So I leave you with this silly picture from a friends birthday. We had a Never Nude party. If you've seen Arrested Development you'll know what I'm talking about! It was a ton of fun, and was really interesting to see how many people got dressed up for it!

I hope you all have a really happy day, even if you don't have a significant other! This day should be about happiness, not grumpiness..

Rest in Peace, Whitney

I know I'm a few days late on this news, but you see I have this rule: no blogging on the weekends. It's kind of my unplugging for two days at a time. I stop checking up on my blog Friday at noon and start looking at it again Sunday at 9-10pm. This is mainly for me to concentrate on my school work, spend time with family and friends and work. This makes it so much easier for me to just chill out a little bit.

Now, onto Whitney. Whitney Houston passed away over the weekend. I was at my sorority house studying with a friend when you hear down the hallway "Y'ALL WHITNEY HOUSTON IS DEAD!". So what better way to pay tribute to her than by signing our favorite songs she gave us on the top of our longs? So at 11pm, in a sorority house, you could hear girls singing in their own respective rooms. It was a fun way to remember such a vibrant woman. She was such an influential person when it comes to music past and present. She had such a beautiful voice. While she may have gone through some very tough periods in her life, she is now in a better place. May she rest in peace.

And now, I leave you with my favorite Whitney song, well one of them!

Fill in the Blank Friday!

It's another fill in the blank Friday for me!

1.  I started my blog because  I wanted my momma to be able to keep up with me throughout college.

2.   One thing I love seeing on other blogs   are people being real. Whether it be stories about their life, what they like or where they're going next. I want to see the "real side" of people on the internet.

3.  Something I love about blogging   the sweet words people send when people are having trouble.

4. A favorite blog post of mine is probably as of right now, probably this story, that deal with college living!

5. Something my friends in real life know about me that I've never before mentioned on my blog are my new years resolutions. They're just for me, really (and anyone who reads this!)

6.  My new favorite blogs to read are  currently probably Jenni Austria Germany., La Mia Vita, Everyday Is a New Adventure, Across the Pond and lastly Lulapalooza. These girls are amazing bloggers and so sweet! You should really check them out!

7.  Some things I tend to avoid doing on my blog are   being obnoxious or negative.

Before & After!

A few weeks ago, I finally took the plunge (again) and dyed my hair! So far I'm loving the color. My hair has natural highlights and lowlights in it, so even when I dye my hair I still have a few different tones all throughout! I dye my hair myself, with the help of my friend A, simply because it's a lot less money! My hair grows so fast/the red dye fades out so quickly that it would be pointless for me to get it professionally done because I would be at the salon every two-three months!

Before is on the right and after is on the left! What do you think?!
